Why do you volunteer with GGRBC?

I still remember the first time that I rode my bike and I still connect with that feeling when riding my bike. I think the world is a better place when people ride their bicycles, and I want to be part of the solution to make cycling more accessible, safer, and enjoyable for all users. I strongly believe the mission of the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Collation lines up with my beliefs.

What do you love about biking?

I love experiencing the world, environment, and city from the perspective of a bike seat. It's such a unique way to immerse yourself in your surroundings. I want to do more to be part of working towards making our urban bike community more vibrant, accessible, and fun! Bikes rock, and I want all cycling users to feel like Grand Rapids is safe and built for their cycling needs.

Can you share a bit about what you're passionate about when it comes to biking, climate, or our cities?

I'm incredibly passionate about being part of the effort that enables an urban personal transportation infrastructure that is less reliant on the automobile. Having lived in the Netherlands, I have seen firsthand that it is possible to create alternative forms of transportation in an urban environment.
